Summary:  New Mexico State University’s Global Campus seeks an Associate Director of Instructional Design who will lead and ensure quality standards for online academic courses and programs across NMSU Global and/or NMSU Las Cruces campuses. Collaborate with stakeholders and manage instructional design teams to create engaging, accessible, and high-quality learning experiences

Classification Summary:
Under general supervision, ensures that NMSU's fully online, hybrid and campus courses and programs are designed developed and implemented utilizing quality metrics and design standards that meet accreditation standards. This position will assist and lead with the instructional design, development, and implementation of online and hybrid courses and programs. Supervises, directs, delegates, and evaluates work of assigned staff.

Classification Standard Duties:
The Associate Director of Instructional Design will work directly with faculty and staff to assist in academic course and program design and development, and will advise on best practices for online and hybrid instruction. The AD will be expected to maintain strong stakeholder relationships with faculty and department heads, and will manage projects through to completion, providing first-rate customer service to internal and external customers. The AD will be responsible for establishing best practices for online course and/or program design at NMSU Global and LC campuses, and for collaborating in the development of assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of designed courses and programs. In addition, the AD will also focus on the development of new learning models for online course and program delivery. In conjunction with the Academic Technology and Microlearning units, the AD advocates for the use of technology that supports online instruction, design, and learning. Supervises, directs, delegates, and evaluates work of assigned staff.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education: Master's degree in a related field.; Required Experience: Eight (8) years of
professional experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency: None; Required Certification/License: None

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE: Excellent understanding of instructional design principles, online pedagogy and
andragogy, learning theory, emerging learning science, and technologies that influence learning design and learning environments, coupled with experience applying this knowledge to real-world projects. Knowledge of project management methods and procedures.

SKILLS: Organizing and coordinating skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Teaching and facilitation skills. Demonstrated experience and skill working with an LMS and 3rd party integrations for that LMS.

ABILITIES: Ability to communicate effectively, provide persuasive guidance, and manage each development project to meet both deadlines and quality standards. Strong analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including those needed to create and maintain positive interactions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
This position will have direct responsibility for ensuring the quality and standards of online academic course and program offerings at NMSU Global and/or NMSU Las Cruces campuses. Will have the in-depth knowledge and understanding of online course and program development processes. The Associate Director of Instructional Design will work with other leaders within NMSU Global and across the system to create engaging online courses and programs that draw on quality principles and leverage the appropriate pedagogical and andragogical approaches and educational technologies. While managing the day-to-day responsibilities associated with course and program development, the AD will work closely with department and college stakeholders. The AD will liaise with the VC of GC and the Director of Microlearning to understand how design, development, implementation, and evaluation activity integrates with other key functions or priorities within NMSU Global Campus. Will lead a team of instructional designers as they work collaboratively with instructors (including faculty, professional staff, graduate teaching assistants, and subject matter experts) in the creation of online learning experiences (credit, non-credit, and digital badging /certification), to include: 1) the development of high-quality, accessible instructional course materials and full course builds; 2) the design and application of assessment procedures and instruments in online courses and programs; and 3) other special projects related to online instructional design and delivery. Performs other related duties as assigned.
