Summary:  Position supports the overall function of the College of ACES Academic Program Office through oversight/coordination of a variety of directed efforts/initiatives/projects focused on student recruitment, marketing, student retention, and administrative support.

Classification Summary:
Under limited supervision, develops, implements, and oversees a range of integrated special programs and initiatives designed to assist in the recruitment and retention of graduate and/or undergraduate students within an underrepresented target population or college. Responsible for the internal and external promotion and representation of program activities. Coordinates and provides support services to student participants as appropriate to program activities.

Classification Standard Duties:
Plans, develops, and coordinates student support programs, special projects, and other initiatives geared to the recruitment and retention of students within the targeted student population or college. Oversees and administers all facets of the day-to-day operations of the various programs and activities related to the position. Serves as primary liaison with internal and external contacts on all matters relating to the program(s) activities; represents the program(s) on a local, regional, and/or national basis. Provides and/or coordinates financial aid scholarship disbursement, academic advisement, career advisement, and/or related support to students participating in the programs; acts as student advocate, and provides day-to-day problem solving as necessary. Oversees and/or coordinates the collection and analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, edits, and presents statistical and narrative program reports and evaluations. May plans, develops, and implements strategies for identifying and generating funding and/or resource opportunities for program activities, to include development of grant and other fundraising proposals. Participates in the development of goals and objectives; recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations, as appropriate to the unit. Supervises personnel which typically includes recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues. Knowledge of a range of recruitment strategies and techniques. Knowledge of targeted recruitment principles, procedures, and resources. Knowledge of student outreach services and activities.; SKILLS:Data management and records maintenance skills. Performance management skills.; ABILITIES:Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to develop and implement recruitment plans. Ability to analyze and solve problems. Ability to plan community outreach projects. Ability to analyze course prerequisites, certification, and/or curriculum/graduation requirements. Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events. Ability to design and develop recruitment plans. Knowledge of community outreach practices.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

This position supports the overall function of the College of ACES Academic Program Office through oversight/coordination of a variety of directed efforts/initiatives/projects focused on student recruitment, marketing, student retention, and administrative support.

College-wide student recruitment:
Assist in the design and implementation of targeted initiatives and activities on-campus and throughout NM and the SW region. Track admission/enrollment data to improve marketing & communications related to undergraduate ACES programs. Liaison with NMSU units to coordinate recruitment activities with NMSU efforts, mission and goals.
Student Retention:
Assist with the efforts/initiatives/programs to improve key student retention KPls in College (e.g., advisement of ACES Council, coordination/planning of key ACES student events (to create sense of belonging). Plan/implement professional, leadership and career development events for students. Serve on Provost's committees related to student retention.
Student supervision:
Oversee and manage targeted student activities/employment such as serve as instructor of record to ACES 305 (Ambassador class) inclusive of syllabus development, lesson planning, teaching and grading. Serve as advisor and mentor for ACES Ambassadors. Hire, train, and supervise student employees. Oversee social media efforts related to ACES academic programs.
Marketing, communication and promotion:
Develop an appropriate range data-informed materials (media) to promote the College of ACES particularly its academic programs.
Develop and implement "drip" marketing campaigns within available NMSU platforms.
Administrative Support:
Provide professional administrative support to Associate Dean, Recruitment and Retention Specialists. Serve as a backup for specialists and academics office. Represent and promote College of ACES to off-campus groups and organizations. Coordinate certain ACES participation in legislative activities (e.g., AgFest). Liaison with AES and CES in key events. Support NMSU Rodeo. Collaborate with NMDA on educational and promotional events.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Special Requirements of the Position
Travel is required in this position, both in-state and out-of-state; working weekends and evenings as needed.
