Job Duties and Responsibilities: Temporary security are assigned to work NMSU special events such as sports, concerts and campus activities that require security presence. They assist in setting up and conducting bag searches at entrances; alcohol monitoring at events; assisting police officers with ingress/egress of cars in the parking lots; assist with escorts; event control over watch; cash room security and assist police officer with traffic control at crash sites; and crowd control. Please refer to the below clarification regarding required education, experience, certification/license, and/or equivalency.
Required Education and Experience:
Required Education:High School diploma or GED; Required Experience:100 hours as Security Officer I; Equivalency:None; Required Certification/License:Must pass a criminal history, background, and fingerprint check. A valid New Mexico driver’s license will be required. May also be required to complete psychological and drug screen exams. Must be at least 18 years old.

•(Security Level Two) - 100 hrs. required as a Security Level One
•(Security Level Three) - This is an armed position and requires both firearms/defensive tactics training from the department with yearly qualifications

•For all security positions, applicants must pass a criminal history, background, and fingerprint check
•For Security Level Three (armed position), applicants will be required to complete psychological and drug screen exams
Special Certification/Licensure:
This is a part-time temp position. This is a temporary appointment with a predetermined end date not to exceed 1 year and is subject to an earlier termination if necessary. Temporary employees have no entitlement or expectation of continued employment during or beyond the appointment period.
Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Physical Effort: Moderate physical activity.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.
Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
