Classification Summary:
We are seeking dynamic and experienced adjunct faculty to join our team in delivering high-quality online education. As a member of our adjunct faculty, you will play a vital role in providing engaging, student-centered instruction in a fully virtual environment. Responsibilities include delivering course content, fostering active student participation, and providing timely feedback to support learner success. Ideal candidates will have expertise in their field, a passion for teaching, and the ability to effectively utilize online learning technologies. Classification Standard Duties:
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and deliver engaging online course content and materials that meet the needs of adult learners.
• Facilitate online discussions, activities, and assignments to enhance student learning and engagement.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their coursework and progress.
• Collaborate with other faculty members and instructional designers to continuously improve online course offerings.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and other institutional initiatives as required.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience teaching online courses to adult learners preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote/virtual environment.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Discipline-Specific Qualifications:
• Social Work: Master’s degree in Social Work and two-years post-MSW experience. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure within New Mexico.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Service Level Agreements (SLAs):
1. Course Engagement: Faculty members are expected to actively engage with students in online courses through regular participation in discussion forums, timely responses to student inquiries, and proactive outreach to students who may need additional support.
2. Feedback Turnaround: Faculty members will provide timely feedback on assignments and assessments within 48 to 72 hours of submission.
3. Office Hours: Faculty members will hold regular virtual office hours to provide additional support and assistance to students. Office hours will be scheduled at times that accommodate the needs of adult learners, including evenings and weekends.
4. Communication: Faculty members will respond to emails and other communications from students and colleagues within 24 hours during weekdays and 48 hours on weekends.
5. Professional Development: Faculty members are expected to participate in ongoing professional development activities related to online teaching and learning, including workshops, webinars, and conferences.

Special Requirements of the Position
This is a temporary appointment with a pre-determined end date not to exceed one year and is subject to earlier termination if necessary. Temporary employees have no entitlement or expectation of continued employment during or beyond the appointment period. Position may average up to 29 hours per week. New Mexico retirees may have different FTE requirements, but still shall not exceed an FTE of 0.74. Selection of candidates and hiring will be processed through the appropriate academic department.
