Summary: We are seeking strong candidates with research expertise in AI that can effectively complement the research foci of the department, especially in Knowledge Representation, Reasoning, and Multi-Agent Systems.
Classification Summary:
The Computer Science Department at New Mexico State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, with appointment starting in Fall 2025.
The CS department has BS/MS/PhD degree programs in CS and a BS program in Cybersecurity. The department has close to 500 undergraduate, over 100 graduate students, and 15 faculty, and has a vibrant research environment with research strengths in the areas of artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, and human-computer interaction. The department is home to two NSF funded research centers in smart grid. The chosen candidates will join a research active faculty funded by diverse federal agencies (NSF, DoD, DoE, NASA, Dept. of Education, and national labs). The faculty in the department are recent recipients of the prestigious NSF NRT, RINGS, CRI/ERI, IIS, and CAREER awards. The research expenditure of the department is in the top 30 in the nation among CS departments not part of a college of engineering (American Society for Engineering Education). The department is ranked in CSrankings.org in several areas.

Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. by the time of their appointment and have a strong commitment to both research and teaching.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
We are seeking strong candidates with research expertise in Artificial Intelligence that can effectively complement the research foci of the department, especially in Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, and Multi-Agent Systems. Exceptional candidates with strong background in other areas of Computer Science such as data science and machine learning will also be considered.
