Summary:  The Department of Mathematical Sciences at New Mexico State University is looking for candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in statistics, starting in Fall 2026.

Classification Summary:
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at New Mexico State University invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty appointment to be filled at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2026. The position will support general education and teaching needs within the department, with a research focus in Statistics. Individuals interested in contributing to a diverse academic community are particularly encouraged.

In addition, the cover letter and curriculum vitae, along with a minimum of four letters of reference, at least one of which addresses teaching, AMS Cover Sheet, teaching statement, and research statement should also be submitted online through www.mathjobs.org. Classification Standard Duties:
Expected duties include teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses, coordinating courses, maintaining an active research agenda, supervising graduate students, submitting competitive external funding proposals, and participating in university service.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related area prior to August 2026.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, a dedication to teaching excellence at both graduate and undergraduate levels, and exceptional research potential. Collaborating with current faculty in the department is considered an advantage.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include teaching and coordinating undergraduate and graduate classes, as well as advising students in both undergraduate and graduate studies. Conducting scholarly research. Service to the Department of Mathematical Sciences and NMSU.
