Summary:  Inviting applications for the position of Assistant Dean of Economic Development for the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences.

Classification Summary:
Assists the Dean in planning, development, administration, and structuring the role of the College of Agricultural, Consumer & Environmental Sciences (ACES) in rural and economic development of New Mexico and agribusiness and natural resources in urban, rural and borderlands; as well as in developing and overseeing economic analyses for the College. Incumbent will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and providing fundamental economic analysis, research, and planning information to support decision making for the ACES College, including selected coordination of programs and projects with the Agricultural Experiment Station (AES), Cooperative Extension Service (CES), Academics, budgeting affairs, accreditation, enrollment management, research and extension statistics and projections.

Classification Standard Duties:
Works closely with various special programs to include Data Analytics unit, Center of Excellence in Sustainable Food and Agricultural Systems (CESFAS), Indian Resource Development (IRD), New Mexico Education Designed to Generate Excellence in the Public Sector (NM EDGE), and others to positively impact the rural and economic development in New Mexico; works with senior administrative staff to develop an integrated approach to planning and assessment. Develop data structures and collection processes for measuring the variables that comprise the College's Key Performance Indicators. Assist College leadership in strategic initiatives to include coordination of legislative and fund development efforts. Coordinate community and economic development programs within the ACES College and serve as a liaison between the College, the University, and state and federal agencies in relation to programs related to community, economic, and workforce development. Integrate and leverage programs/resources across instruction, research, and extension (Ag literacy, tribal programs, water, value-added agriculture, health, and college analytics that transcend across teaching, research, and extension). Conduct investment analyses related to potential research investments. Develop community and economic development assessments and recommendations, specific to Agricultural Science Centers (ASCs) and how to leverage opportunities. Provide annual economic impact assessment of the twelve ASCs. Public/private partnership exploration and advancement. Manage and conduct economic analysis of any implications for the College of ACES in AES, CES, Academics, IRD and CESFAS in New Mexico and specially in borderlands. Undertake data analysis to support the College's strategic goals/mission. Presents analytical summaries, findings and recommendations related to the College's effectiveness to appropriate stakeholders. Reports to the Dean and Chief Administrator of the College of ACES. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Earned doctorate (PhD) degree in a directly related discipline and tenured or tenurable at the rank of professor In the department of Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job.
Understanding of the University's and College's mission, vision and goals.
Skills:Short- and long-term planning; problem analysis and resolution; financial and economic analysis, proposal writing for funds requests, report preparation and presentation; interpersonal and organizational communication, both oral and written.
Abilities: Develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Assists the Dean in development, administration, and economic analysis for the College. Incumbent will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and providing fundamental economic analyses, research, and planning information to support decision
making for the College of ACES including selected coordination of programs and projects with the AES, CES, Academics, other special units and initiatives in ACES, budgeting affairs, accreditation, enrollment management, research and extension statistics and projections.

Oversees the coordination in various special programs to positively impact the economic development in New Mexico as they develop to include Data Analytics unit, CESFAS, IRD, works with senior administrative staff to develop an integrated approach to planning and assessment. Develop data structures and collection processes for measuring the variables that comprise of the College's Key Performance Indicators. Assist College leadership in strategic initiatives to include coordination of legislative and fund development efforts. Coordination of ACES’ community/economic and workforce development programs with other entities including the University, local, state, federal organizations and the private sector. Integrate and leverage programs/resources across instruction, research, and extension (Ag literacy, tribal programs, water, health, and college analytics that transcend across teaching, research, and extension). Conduct financial and economic analyses related to research investments. Community and economic development assessments and recommendations, specific to AES and ASCs and how to leverage opportunities. Annual economic impact assessment of AES and associated ASCs. Public/private partnership exploration and advancement. Participates the preparation of the ACES Annual Report and other specialized reports required by the dean and CAO. Manage and conduct economic analyses of the implications for the College of ACES in AES, CES, Academics, IRD and CESFAS. Undertake data analysis to support the College's strategic goals/mission. Presents analytical summaries, findings and recommendations related to College's effectiveness to appropriate stakeholders. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

5 or more years of experience in academia/strong research and/or extension record demonstrated by publications in prestigious venues and development of research and/or extension programs. Familiarity with the Southwest. Administrative experience in higher education.
Language skills: Spanish fluency and/or Diné
