Summary:  New Mexico State University’s Global Campus seeks multiple Career Resource Coordinators, Online
who will demonstrate a high level of student engagement. This position will work directly with our NMSU Global Campus to build career service programs and relationships with our online adult learners and employers on a Global level.

Classification Summary:
Advises students about employment opportunities and careers. Encourages employers to recruit NMSU graduates. Conducts individual and group sessions to inform students of services, policies, and procedures and to provide assistance in resume preparation and interviewing techniques. Serves as liaison between employers and students; administers activities associated with the campus interview program. Coordinates production of job opportunities bulleting and refers students to prospective employers.

Classification Standard Duties:
Coaches and prepares students and alumni on finding suitable employment by developing job-search skills, effective presentation skills, and understanding of all services available in the Career Services Office through individual advising and group and class presentations. Coaches and assists students and alumni to seek desired employment opportunities. Coaches and assists student and alumni to gain experience through student activities, community service, student employment, research projects, cooperative education, internships and other creative opportunities. Creates and manages the link between alumni, employers, and professional organizations who will provide opportunities for students and alumni to develop professional interests and competencies, integrate academic learning and work, and to explore future career possibilities. Works with faculty in order to develop understanding of the curriculum and corresponding job market to build potential employer contacts. Provides office hours to assigned college areas to advise students and deliver employment services information. Utilizes available computer technology to design and deliver presentations, design and edit office publications, and maintain required statistical information. Develops the personal, internet and print resources necessary to accurately and professionally advise students, alumni and employers. May lead and guide other staff, either same or lower level, or student workers.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined. Equivalency: None

May require a Career Development Facilitator (CDF) Certificate within six months of hire into this position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise. Knowledge of career counseling, career testing, resource library utilization, on-campus recruiting, job postings resume referrals and career fairs. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Proofreading and editing skills.

Ability to advise students/alumni with regard to resume writing, cover letter writing, interviewing skills and job search strategies. Ability to interact with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Ability to identify and develop employment opportunities at the internship, co-op and full time levels. Ability to foster a cooperative environment to work within the department, as well as with constituencies in other organizational units. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
NMSU Global Campus is seeking a dynamic student-centered professional for the position of Online Career Services Coordinator. Demonstrating a high level of student engagement, this position will work directly with our NMSU Global Campus to build career services programs and relationships with our online adult learners and employers on a global level.

Position will work with students to discuss their career plans, goals and pathways to success. Position will develop employer relationships locally, regionally and worldwide – creating direct career pathways that offer competitive and sustainable employment for our graduates. The Online Career Services Coordinator will develop and build career programming which enhances diversity, inclusion and equality and the NMSU Global Campus personalized online student experience – showcasing weekly career discussions, career related trainings, coordinating employer guest speakers, interview coaching and skill building, workshops and career support services.

Advises and guides online students through career professional development experiences, employment opportunities and job searches. Encourages employers to recruit NMSU graduates. Works with NMSU Main campus to offer career guidance in the areas of experiential learning, job shadowing, internships and the NMSU Handshake Career Portal. Conducts online training in resume preparation and interviewing techniques. Offers individual and group sessions in areas such as: completing state, federal and international job applications. Sends out job announcements from our employers to our NMSU Global Campus Student Listserv

Coaches and prepares NMSU Global Campus students to secure sustainable employment by developing job-search skills, effective presentation skills, and understanding of the newest technology and career services available through individual and group advising, and class presentations. Coaches and assists students to seek desired employment opportunities. Coaches and assists students to gain experience through student activities, community service, student employment, research projects, cooperative education, internships and other creative opportunities. Works with Handshake and manages the link between employers, and professional organizations who will provide opportunities for students to develop professional interests and competencies, integrate academic learning and work, and to explore future career possibilities. Assists alumni through career services networking after graduation. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications: Experience advising online and adult learners. KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues related to oline and adult learners. SKILLS: Skill in developing and implementing new strategies and procedures focused on online and adult learner success.
