Target Hourly/Salary Rate:  $53,165.80-$ 67,786.96 Commensurate with Qualifications

As a Community Engagement Coordinator, you'll play a vital role in driving South-Central Thriving Communities Technical Assistant Center's mission. You'll coordinate community engagement projects, provide technical assistance, and represent our organization at local, regional, and national levels.

Classification Summary:
The Community Engagement Coordinator will provide leadership and outreach that will result in improved communication and relations with the community. Provides coordination, facilitation, and support for community engagement and activities.

Classification Standard Duties:
Provide outreach with potential community partners through personal visits, social media, planned activities and ongoing press releases and media coverage of activities. Develop and maintain an inventory/data base of partnerships as a resource for faculty and staff in the College. Work with the departmental internship supervisors, chairs and faculty to foster new and innovative partnerships with community agencies and individuals at local and state levels. Produce an annual report of partnerships and activities for our community stakeholder audience and other interested parties that include the imputed value of experiential learning to the community. Collaborate with leadership and development office to identify, plan and develop conferences, meetings and engagement activities that are of mutual benefit to the community, the college and NMSU. Maintain an ongoing calendar of events and college projects for both community partners and faculty/staff. Develop a methodology to systematically and periodically measure the outcomes and consequences of the community engagement activities and program, both for those associated with NMSU and its partners in the community. Work with Department and College Promotion and Tenure committees to assist faculty in going beyond community engagement and demonstrating the scholarship of engagement, recognized by Boyer and the foundation of NMSU’s P&T policy.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Education- Bachelors Degree in related field; Experience- Five (5) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined. Equivalency- None

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Understanding of training needs assessment principles, processes, and techniques. Knowledge of community resources. Understanding of the University’s mission, vision and goals. Skills in short- and long-term planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with diplomacy; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities. Ability to develop and present community engagement activities. Ability to gather data, analyze information, and prepare reports. Ability to work with diverse population.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Plans and coordinates the development, implementation, and execution of South-Central Thriving Communities Technical Assistant Center community-engagement projects and other initiatives designed to achieve overall mission, goals, and objectives of the grant funded project. Serves as point of contact with internal and external stakeholders for direct and indirect technical assistance. Provides and/or coordinates technical guidance, consultation, related support to clientele within area of program focus; provides problem solving as necessary on daily program-related needs and issues. Creates, produces, and delivers a range of promotional, educational, and informational presentations, and/or resource materials related to program activities and initiatives. Oversees and administers daily operations of the technical assistance center. May supervise student employees and perform job related duties as assigned. Oversees and/or coordinates the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, edits, and presents comprehensive statistical and narrative program reports and evaluations. Serve as point of contact for community outreach, case management, and administrative responsibilities as it relates to planning and implementing the program’s technical assistance center initiative. Responsible for collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data. Oversees and administers all facets of day-today operation for South Central TCTAC program and activities, oversees intake process and community outreach. Collaborating with state government and community organizations to support development and implementation of effective and seamless technical assistance. Represent the center with respect to specified grant funded program activities on a local, regional, and/or national basis. Responsible for collecting, compiling, and conducting analysis of program activity data. Makes recommendations and/or implements and administers methods and procedures to enhance the technical assistance center. Provides community outreach, case management, and administrative responsibilities for the technical assistance center. Reviewing and processing all intakes including but not limited to following up with customer, assessing project, providing customer with action items, connecting customer with resources, traveling to partnership organizations/communities in Region 6 NM AR LA OK TX, participating in meetings, representing South Central TCTAC and delivering presentations along with other related duties to maintain grant compliance. Provide short- and long-term goals and timelines, tracking intake numbers and projects, documentation of all technical assistance requests/intakes/initiatives of the center, submitting reports and summaries and other related documents as related to South Central TCTAC grant. Updating website to provide current resources, events, and information.

Bargaining Unit Eligibility: This is NOT a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8-5)

If Not a Standard Work Schedule: Some evenings, weekends, and travel are required and may not fall into the standard work schedule.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.

Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
