Summary: Are you a creative communicator with a passion for connecting and empowering students? New Mexico State University’s Division of Student Success is seeking a dynamic Coordinator of Information & Communications to lead vital outreach efforts that inspire, inform, and engage our campus community. This role is essential in shaping and managing the Student Life area’s digital presence, including the Crimson Connection platform, where you’ll ensure cohesive, accessible, and visually appealing web content. You’ll lead strategic outreach and marketing initiatives across health & wellness, student disability access, involvement opportunities, and more, fostering a vibrant student experience.
As our coordinator, you’ll develop impactful publications and reports to highlight achievements and promote the growth of NMSU’s student organizations and success programs. Serving as a key liaison to University Marketing & Communications, you’ll drive visibility for NMSU’s student activities both on and off campus, while actively participating in university committees to further enrich our Division of Student Success. Classification Summary:
Develops and maintains web sites for a department, college, or program. Creates content, adapts existing content to a Web-friendly format, creates and maintains the logical structure of the content. Works with a variety of departments, colleges and others as appropriate.
Classification Standard Duties:
Develops and maintains plan for organization's Internet presence, based on management priorities, policy directions, and goals. Creates enhancements and modifications to web sites; organizes and maintains the sites. Assesses new standards, technologies and trends, and formulates strategies and plans for future enhancement of web sites. Programs HTML and uploads pages to the web sites.Ensures that web sites are accessible from a variety of different environments. Produces a consistent visual image on the web sites including maintenance of templates and image archives. Ensures that images are delivered to the viewer at sufficiently high speed and quality. Creates image links, and ensures that links are up to date; updates information on pages and databases so that content is current.Troubleshoots and repairs bugs and problems. Responds to web designer mail; provides and analyzes traffic statistics and reports. Develops, researches, writes/edits and creates layout for new sections/features. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education:High School diploma or GED certificate.; Required Experience:Four (4) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency:Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.; Required Certification/License:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge and understanding of current authoring languages, editing and authoring tools, and related website technologies. Knowledge and understanding of internet operations and functionality, and of a wide range of internet programming and design tools. Knowledge of the Internet, ftp, telnet and the ability to develop website documents. Knowledge of html, dhtml, css, JavaScript, PHP, web page creation, and web site maintenance.; SKILLS:Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Project management skills. Strategic planning skills. Proofreading and editing skills. Skill in computer graphics and layout. Skill in the use of computerized page layout and design software.; ABILITIES:Ability to effectively manage time and schedules. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to utilize computerized word processing and internet software. Ability to evaluate new and evolving website technologies. Ability to create and analyze reports.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Coordination of communications and information technology for the department of Student Life and the respective sub-departments. Responsible for training and directing records systems and assignments handled by assistants. Collects and extracts data from various reports, Audits reports for accuracy and completeness, Maintains the Crimson Connection Student Engagement Software.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and working knowledge of Cascade; WordPress; Adobe design suite products
Experience with video/image editing software
Experience working with advertising initiatives specific to student content
