Summary: We seek a passionate and experienced librarian to support and enhance the endeavors of the NMSU Library.
Classification Summary:
This position reports to the Head of Technical Services. Duties include: administration and overall leadership supporting electronic resource management; ensuring the provision of effective and high-quality departmental services; serving as an intermediary between the Library and vendors for access related issues; and contributing to Library assessment efforts while ensuring compliance with relevant Library and University policies and procedures.
Classification Standard Duties:
Administrative responsibilities for the operation of the ERMS system, workflows, and quality control measures; works cooperatively to address access related issues. Collaborates with internal and external entities to troubleshoot issues. Responds in a timely fashion to help desk tickets. Develops relationships with vendors. Takes a broad library-wide perspective while representing the department. Serve on library and campus committees. As a member of the library faculty, pursue an active and ongoing program of professional development appropriate for his/her rank at the university. Ensures compliance with relevant library and university policies and procedures.
As a member of the library faculty, is responsible for achieving in the following areas:

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
· MLS from ALA Accredited graduate program or international equivalent
· One year (12 months) of work experience in a library or equivalent setting performing highly complex duties that require an extensive working knowledge of the techniques and practices of electronic resources management
· Experience implementing and maintaining services for management of electronic collections, such as knowledgebase, link resolver, discovery service, statistics, collection assessment, and ERM components
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of relevant software and applications, for example:
- Electronic resources management system (ERMS)
- Link resolvers
- Discovery services
- Unified library systems
- The administrative functions of proprietary database
- Usage statistics (COUNTER/SUSHI)
- Knowledge of KBART, OpenURL
Understanding of the following:
- the role of electronic resources in the educational and research mission of the University
- authentication and identity management as relates to library electronic resources access
- records management necessary for actively coordinating and managing the often-complicated records needed to track electronic purchases, subscriptions, access set-up and maintenance
- Familiarity with trends in electronic resources management and usage
Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Provides expertise and leadership in making electronic information resources accessible
* Develops and implements new procedures for the management of electronic resources within the library and communicates these procedures throughout the library
* System administration for electronic resource platforms (including link resolvers, electronic resource management systems and databases)
* Administration of discovery service and management of authentication systems
* Troubleshoots e-resources help tickets
* Liaisons with vendors to solve access issues
* Liaisons with campus IT partners
* Assists community college partners
*Gathers usage and cost per use data
* Queries ILS
* Prepares reports
* Monitors ILS vendor updates and makes appropriate recommendations as needed
* Other duties as assigned
