Summary: Developer to join our dynamic team. This mid-level role involves working on varied and moderately complex projects that support critical business and scientific operations. The ideal candidate will analyze technical and business requirements using established methodologies, review project proposals, and prepare comparative analyses of alternatives based on cost, time, and resource availability. Upon approval, they will develop specifications and oversee the implementation of computer programs. Responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining complex systems such as inventory control, payroll, and financial analysis, ensuring seamless transaction processing across full record systems.
The candidate will troubleshoot data processing issues, coordinate with programmers and end users, and train personnel on new or updated systems. They will also prepare and deliver presentations to stakeholders and provide ongoing application support, including on-call problem resolution. A strong command of SQL and Object-Oriented Programming principles is essential, along with familiarity with system software, programming practices, and computer equipment. The role may include functional supervision of technical projects and requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of performance, timeliness, and system compatibility. Staying current with emerging technologies and best practices is expected, along with the flexibility to perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Classification Summary:
Under supervision supports a university enterprise system, analyzes and evaluates moderately complex existing or proposed systems, and devises computer programs, systems and procedures to process data. Prepares charts and diagrams to assist in problem analysis, and submits recommendations for solution. Prepares program specifications and diagrams, and develops coding logic flowcharts. Encodes, tests, debugs, and installs the operating programs and procedures in coordination with computer operations and user departments.
Classification Standard Duties:
Performs work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character, but usually involves limited responsibility. Uses established fact-finding procedures, knowledge of pertinent work processes and procedures, and familiarity with related programming practices, system software, and computer equipment to provide required analysis of business and/or scientific problems. Reviews proposals which consist of objectives, scope, and use expectations; gathers facts, analyzes data, and prepares a project synopsis which compares alternatives in terms of cost, time, availability of equipment and personnel, and recommends a course of action; prepares specifications for development of computer programs upon approval of project synopsis. Develops and maintains complex systems or subsystems such as inventory control, payroll, or financial/cost analysis in which transactions are automatically processed through the full system of records. Determines and resolves data processing problems and coordinates the work with programmers, users, etc; orients user personnel on new or changed procedures. Adapts design approaches successfully used in precedent systems; completed work is reviewed for timeliness, compatibility with other work, and effectiveness in meeting requirements. Prepares and gives presentations to user personnel. May train end users on established programs. Provides on-call support and problem resolution for computer applications. May provide functional supervision for technical or specific project assignments. Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems. Possesses thorough knowledge of SQL and/or Object Oriented Programming principles. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education:Bachelor's degree in a related field.; Required Experience:Three (3) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency:An additional four (4) years of directly related professional experience may be substituted for the required bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree in a related filed may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience.;Required Certification/License:

Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise. Job Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as the technical liaison between IT technical resources and assigned functional units. Responsible for understanding functional unit technical system needs and coordinating deployment/work efforts as need to achieve the NMSU's IT strategic vision. Partners with Business Process Analyst. Serve as a key participant on a team that drive the assessment, analysis, and development of requirements and process workflows for various departments. Staying proficient on all technologies. Coordinating projects, delivering projects on-time. Working with other departments across IT to ensure projects are completed.
Provides technical assistance to users or other departments, helping to troubleshoot problems and improve system performance. Responsible for an area of focus to become the technical expert to understand the business and processes of assigned area.
Oversees and performs the efficient deployment of enterprise software solutions, ensuring their ongoing operational support and maintenance. Manage technical projects, delivering projects on-time ensuring staff complete tasks on schedule. Maintains and configures the NMSU’s ERP system with focus on .Student Functions and other systems.
