Classification Summary:
Performs multi-craft functions for a major organizational unit or for multiple sites. Functions may include non-technical electrical, plumbing, grounds, carpentry, locksmith, custodial, and painting; provides day-to-day coordination and leadership to other employees performing similar work.
Classification Standard Duties:
Coordinates the work of other facilities services technicians in completion of maintenance work orders; assists others with complex tasks. Maintains inventory of parts and supplies for facilities repairs; orders materials as needed. Monitors, maintains, and performs standard repairs to building electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and cooling systems. Assists licensed plumbers, electricians and HVAC personnel as appropriate. Prepares job estimates for customers including time and materials costs. Performs quality inspections on work completed by other facilities services technicians. Prepares and maintains records on all maintenance activities. Supervises the work of employees in supporting roles, including assigning workload and monitoring employee performance. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education:High School diploma or GED certificate.; Required Experience:Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency:Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.; Required Certification/License:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services; ordering and inventory control. Knowledge of facilities services including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, utility operations, building maintenance, and carpentry.; SKILLS:Records maintenance skills. Organizing and coordinating skills.; ABILITIES:Ability to prepare engineering documents, specifications and cost estimates for projects. Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards. Ability to complete routine paperwork. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. Ability to lead and train staff and/or students. Ability to repair and maintain appliances and heating and cooling equipment. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Facilities Maintenance and Repairs; Patching, Painting, minor Plumbing and lighting Maintenance, maintenance and repairs to Floors, carpeting, and ceilings. Installation of white boards, Tack boards, plaques, picture frames, and signage in Classrooms, offices and Administration areas. Maintenance, repairs, or replacement of furniture including classroom Table and Chairs and office furniture. Troubleshoots maintenance issues and contact manager or asst. manger for contacting vendors for repairs
Provides Assistance to HVAC Lead and HVAC Tech for HVAC repairs and Maintenance. Provides assistance to HVAC techs for Quarterly Filter replacement, assists with other minor repairs as directed by manager.
Provides Assistance to Facilities Locksmith for repairs, removal and installation of doors, Door hardware, and maintenance of door closers and ADA Operators.
Provides Assistance to Campus community for various activities and Special events like Graduation, golf tournament, and career fairs and other special events.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Five years experience or more in the construction industry including knowledge of various trades such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, and HVAC.

Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
