Advertising Summary: NMSU–Alamogordo is seeking a dependable Groundskeeper to help maintain the beauty, safety, and overall appearance of our campus. This position is responsible for the care and upkeep of outdoor areas, including lawns, landscaped spaces, and walkways. The Groundskeeper will use a variety of tools and equipment to ensure campus grounds are clean, well-maintained, and welcoming to students, staff, and visitors.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform routine grounds maintenance, including pruning trees and shrubs, weeding, and debris removal.
• Conduct seasonal cleanup activities such as leaf removal and snow/ice removal from sidewalks and walkways.
• Maintain campus appearance by painting parking lot markings and curbs as assigned.
• Operate, clean, and maintain groundskeeping tools and equipment in safe working condition.
• Maintain and repair irrigation and sprinkler systems.
• Keep accurate records of herbicide application, fuel usage, and equipment inventory.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Physical Effort: Considerable physical activity. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
Lifting Requirements: Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
Risk: Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
