Summary:  New Mexico State University invites applications and nominations for a college (i.e., non-tenure seeking) faculty position in the Nurse Anesthesiology DNP Specialty Track. The individual in this position will have responsibilities in teaching (80%), service (10%) and practice-based scholarship (10%). The program is housed in the College of Health, Education and Social Transformation’s School of Nursing.

A doctoral degree and certification, experience, and expertise as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Job Duties and Responsibilities
General:
• Plans, designs, and provides didactic, clinical and/or laboratory instruction in the nurse anesthesiology track in a manner that reflect an understanding of the program’s objectives and curriculum.
• Evaluates student achievement of curricular and course objectives and learning outcomes related to nursing knowledge and practice.
• Contributes to program, department, and college activities and initiatives including participating in program and department faculty meetings and serving on committees and participating in university functions.
• Participates in School of Nursing events (i.e., commencement, induction ceremonies, open houses, career days, recruitment activities, fundraising events, etc)
• Serves on departmental, college and/or university committees
• Participation in scholarship/research, professional practice, service and outreach as assigned
Program-specific:
• Assists in the process of program accreditation for the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) including evaluating and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards
• Participates in COA and DNP CCNE program accreditation visits
• Supports the director and assistant director in curriculum development, execution, evaluation, and revision for continues improvement to assure rigor and quality of learning experiences
• Assists in the development, evaluation, and revision of student admission, progression, retention, and graduation policies, assuring alignment with institutional policies
• Advises and counsels DNP nurse anesthesiology students
• Represents the school and university to prospective students, professional organizations, potential future employers for students, and any other relevant constituencies
Position is contingent upon funding.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.

Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
