Summary:  Join the One Stop team at NMSU as a One Stop Counselor and play a key role in supporting students and their families across financial aid, scholarships, undergraduate admissions, and registrar services. In this position, you will provide high-quality customer service through in-person, phone, and email interactions, helping students navigate processes such as admissions, registration, financial aid, billing, and transcript requests. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and institutional policies, and a commitment to delivering accurate information in a fast-paced environment. Classification Summary:
Provide service to University students, families, faculty, and staff in the main areas of financial aid & scholarships undergraduate admissions and registrar. Responsible for understanding and interpreting the needs of students and providing quality student service for all student services areas.

Classification Standard Duties:
Counsel, advise, investigate, problem-solve, and resolve questions and issues from current and previous students, parents, faculty, staff, collegiate units, other third parties, and the public. Counsel students on a variety of issues to include student records, financial aid, billing, and payments, admissions, etc. Responsible for providing excellent customer service and accurate information to prospective and current students and their families regarding undergraduate admissions policies, registration, financial aid & scholarships via multiple venues including counter, call center and email. Makes presentations on and off campus (outreach) to groups as needed. Responsible for referring students to appropriate home offices or other offices on campus as needed. Processes transcripts, financial aid & scholarship paperwork, registers/withdraws students, generates, maintains and distributes transcripts and letters of verification as well as other paperwork and/or processes within the enrollment services units. Assists home offices with processing as needed. Maintains a high level of working knowledge of university information, organization, opportunities and policies. Maintains knowledge of current processes and procedures for all enrollment services units including federal, state and institutional rules and regulations. Participate in committees and/or conferences and meetings. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of current industry best practices, customer service standards and procedures, system-wide admissions policies, standards, and procedures. Knowledge of full spectrum of university academic units, curricula, and programs. College-level maintenance requirements for student records principles, policies and procedures. Knowledge of national, regional and local student recruitment and retention issues.; SKILLS:Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, especially in public speaking. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of computer software applications. Demonstrated time and materials management skills. Effective utilization of student information systems and customer relations management systems. Database and records management and/or maintenance skills. General office administrative and secretarial skills.; ABILITIES:Solutions oriented, with a high level of creativity and the ability to analyze complex problems. Ability to work independently, under pressure and with minimum supervision in addition to being a productive member of a team. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to simultaneously plan, deliver and manage multiple activities, make effective administrative/procedural decisions and recommendations. Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in diverse communities. Ability to deliver excellent customer service, travel and work flexible hours.
