Classification Summary:
Monitor, Control, Maintain and repair boilers, chillers and related equipment.

Classification Standard Duties:
Monitors, controls, maintains and repairs boilers and related equipment such as piping, turbines, steam and electric feed water pumps, deaerators and control valves. Monitors, controls, maintains and repairs chillers and related equipment such as water pumps, valves, check valves, piping, heat exchangers, regulators, electric and pneumatic controls and gear boxes. Maintains and repairs demineralizers and related equipment such as tanks, pumps, ejectors, valves, timers, regulators, electric and pneumatic controls and piping. Maintains and repairs cooling towers and related equipment such as chlorinators, venture injectors, safety valves, fitters, meters, strainers, diffusers, gear reducers, water pumps, electric and pneumatic controls and valves, relays, regulators and flow meters. Monitors and controls campus wide building automation systems.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education:High School diploma or GED certificate.; Required Experience:Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency:Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.; Required Certification/License:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of boiler and chiller repair and maintenance techniques.; SKILLS:Skill in the application of boiler and chiller repair and maintenance techniques. Knowledge and skill in computerized building automation systems.; ABILITIES:Ability to effectively communicate.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to Classification Standard Duties, Monitors water treatment for boilers, cooling towers and closed loop system. Must maintain a State High Pressure Boiler License per State Construction Industries Division.

Special Requirements of the Position
This position has been established as a primary key position under the “All Hazard Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP)” and is essential to operational continuity and/or recovery. In an emergency situation, primary key positions are required to report to work unless directed by supervisor or public safety authorities not to report for health and safety reasons.

Environment: Work is normally performed indoors.

Physical Effort: Moderate physical activity.

Lifting Requirements: Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.

Risk: Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
