Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8-5)

Job Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties of the Project Specialist for operations will be to plan, organize, and implement operational aspects of programs funded through the Institute for Excellence in Math and Science Education. These programs offer STEM professional learning, out-of-school time enrichment and academic support for K-12 schools across New Mexico. Projects are funded by federal, state, and local grants. The Program Specialist will oversee and administer of the campus-based operations of the program and activities related to the STEM Innovation Network, NUMeROS project, and other STEM-based awards, including organizing logistics of professional development events; processing fiscal and reporting documents to comply with funder and university guidelines; communication of program expectations with partner districts and professional service contractors; and acting as liaison with external partners. The Program Specialist will plan, develop, and implement strategies for identifying and generating funding and/or resource opportunities for program activities, to include development of grant and other fundraising proposals. They will create information documents and presentations for partners projects to understand program and fiscal responsibilities of the grant projects. The Program Specialist will work with Program Manager to develop operating goals and procedures for the various STEM grant programs. They will also supervise staff and/or student employees to include: allocation of work assignments, training on organization procedures and expectations, problem resolution, and monitoring and supporting staff.

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
Associate's Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 2 years of relevant experience.

Equivalent Qualifications: 

Preferred Qualifications: 
Accounting and/or Business Degree preferred.
Experience with State Grant Funding preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
