Classification Summary:
Under direct supervision, responsible for the cleaning and custodial care of buildings and working areas. Primary responsibility is for the use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and otherwise caring for building areas. Follows a well established routine.
Classification Standard Duties:
Sweeps, mops, polishes and performs restorative/interim floor and carpet maintenance in rooms and halls. Dusts and/or polishes furniture, blinds and equipment. Empties trash receptacles and bags trash for proper disposal. Cleans restrooms and fills dispensers. Vacuums, spot cleans rugs, carpets, and furniture. Reports malfunctions of bathroom fixtures, light fixtures and/or damages to the interior of buildings i.e. walls, floors, ceilings, windows, furnishings, doors, locks, bathroom dispensers, graffiti etc. to supervisor. Stocks area with appropriate supplies. Locks and unlocks doors as directed. Initiates work orders for repair/maintenance. Moves furniture, equipment or fixtures as required. Washes dishes or utensils as required. May replace light bulbs. May be required to move or lift heavy items. Performs duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of cleaning equipment, products, techniques and standards.; SKILLS:Skill in using cleaning products and equipment.; ABILITIES:The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. Be able to read and write. Be able to use a computer to fill out time cards electronically. Be able to lift or move heavy items.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition. Performs cleaning duties
to ensure sanitary compound. Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners
and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. Cleans and polishes
fixtures and furniture. Shampoos or steam-cleans carpets and rugs. Moving of
furniture, painting, and assisting with non-technical maintenance tasks.

Valid Unrestricted Driver’s License is required for this position.
This position has been established as a primary key position under the “All Hazard Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP)” and is essential to operational continuity and/or recovery. In an emergency situation, primary key positions are required to report to work unless directed by supervisor or public safety authorities not to report for health and safety reasons.
