Classification Summary:
Independently provide operational support for the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for all utility production equipment. Programs, maintains and troubleshoots the University's Energy Management and Control System (EMCS). Trains, commissions and oversees installation work of lower level technicians. Collaborates with other technicians within the facility to ensure the continuity and reliability of utility services and building automation systems campus-wide.

Classification Standard Duties:
Provide operational support to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system including programming, maintaining, troubleshooting and moderating software/hardware and process control applications. This includes computerized building automation system (BAS), programmable logic control (PLC) based operating systems, and interface software, automation controllers, utility meters, TCP/IP and serial based equipment for all utility production systems. Performs network integration of Lonworks, BACnet and Modbus building automation and utility meter communication protocols. Responsible for development and maintenance of Enterprise Energy Management system database to include field device integration, web page development, graphical displays, historical data trends and systems alarm creation. Installs and modifies system software on all SCADA hardware devices. Responsible for Measurement and Verification (M&V) compliance as part of University's continued move to sustainability and energy conservation as described in Energy Master Plan. Coordinates all network system and firewall security setups and updates for SCADA system and integrated devices. Design, test, commission and oversee lower level technician installations of digital electronics, electro-pneumatic, and electro-mechanical controls used for Utility systems. Trains and supports lower level technicians in integration, defensive programming of SCADA devices and device security standards. Maintain effective relationships with cross-functional team of system stakeholders for design, development, testing and upgrades to SCADA network. Works directly with Information/Technology Security team to ensure all SCADA comply with NMSU cyber security standards. Reads, interprets, utilizes, and maintains schematics, blueprints, standard operation procedures, users’ manuals, and other equipment documentation, using computers and hard copy. Audit and support monthly utility billing process through meter reading.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education:High School diploma or GED certificate.; Required Experience:Two (2) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency:Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.; Required Certification/License:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of standard network security best practices. Working knowlege of Tridium Niagara Framework system. ; SKILLS: Skill in the use of personal computers and related automation and utility software applications. Technical leadership skills within area of expertise. ; ABILITIES: Ability to calibrate, test, and maintain a variety of electrical and electronic devices. Ability to read and interpret electrical, electronic, and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and drawings. Ability to use PLC-based operating systems and interface software. Must have the ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

Required: Tridium's Niagra4 Level 1 Certification within 15 months of hire.
