Classification Summary:
Provides team leadership in the effective use of personal technology within a unit or department. Establishes and implements personal technology policies, procedures, and standards and ensures their conformance with information systems goals and procedures.
Classification Standard Duties:
Position is responsible for overall personal technology activity. Establishes and implements personal technology policies, procedures, and standards and ensures their conformance with information systems goals and procedures. Studies and projects personal technology resource requirements including personnel, software, equipment, and facilities and makes recommendations to management. Maintains currency in new developments and technology. Provides for the training of department staff and end-users. Directs setup and maintenance of library and materials for end user reference and reviews department staff. Ensures that security procedures are implemented and enforced. Provides leadership in the effective use of internal data processing, automated office systems, and data communications. May also manage LAN services. Frequently reports to an Information Systems Executive.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education:High School diploma or GED certificate.; Required Experience:Eight (8) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency:Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.; Required Certification/License:

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provides leadership in managing technology within a distributed IT environment by supporting the effective use, maintenance, and alignment of technology resources with institutional goals. Develops and implements unit-level technology policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with broader IT governance and cybersecurity requirements. Oversees daily technology operations, including asset deployment, inventory management, and user support, while promoting best practices in technology use. Collaborates closely with central IT teams to ensure cohesive service delivery, troubleshoot escalated issues, and participate in strategic planning efforts. Delivers training, develops user documentation, and supports technology adoption to enhance staff proficiency and user experience. Assists with technology planning, budgeting, and procurement activities, ensuring compliance with institutional processes. Maintains records of technology activities and regularly evaluates processes for continuous improvement, innovation, and alignment with organizational needs.
