Bargaining Unit Announcement: This is a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

Contingent Upon Funding: Contingent upon external funding

Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8-5)

If Not a Standard Work Schedule: Occasional Weekend and Evenings

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities: The Administrative Assistant II provides administrative and logistical support for the NMSU STEM Outreach Center and the New Mexico STEM Innovation Network. The position supports the coordination of professional learning, meetings, workshops, conferences, and other STEM education activities offered to educators and community partners across New Mexico.

Primary responsibilities include scheduling and coordinating events; creating and managing participant registration; communicating logistical information to participants and presenters; maintaining registration and attendance records; preparing event materials; and providing general administrative support to STEM Outreach Center and STEM Innovation Network staff. The position requires strong organizational, communication, customer service, and technology skills and the ability to manage multiple events and administrative tasks simultaneously.


 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
High School diploma + 1 years of relevant experience, or higher degree.

Equivalent Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience providing administrative support in a university, education, nonprofit, or community-based organization.
• Experience coordinating workshops, conferences, professional learning, meetings, or other events.
• Experience managing online event registration and participant communications.
• Experience maintaining participant databases, spreadsheets, attendance records, or program documentation.
• Experience working with K–12 schools, educators, professional learning programs, or community partners.
• Familiarity with New Mexico communities and educational organizations is desirable.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work is normally performed indoors.

Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.

Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
