Summary:  The Department of Finance in the College of Business at New Mexico State University, AACSB accredited in both business and accounting, is seeking candidates with expertise in risk management and insurance for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning Fall 2025. The applicant must have a Ph. D. in Finance, Insurance or Risk Management with evidence of a research emphasis in Insurance and Risk Management, will be expected to demonstrate continued research productivity, maintain a close working relationship with the Insurance Industry, and initially teach four semester courses per year. Classification Summary:
The New Mexico State University Department of Finance is seeking a candidate for a tenure-track Finance faculty position in Risk Management and Insurance at the Assistant Professor level. New Mexico State University holds business and accounting accreditation by AACSB International.

Classification Standard Duties:
The successful applicant will have responsibilities in the areas of teaching, research, service to the department, and university. The initial teaching load for this position is four undergraduate semester courses per year which will include courses in Principles of Insurance, Property and Liability Insurance, Life Insurance, Employee Benefits and Retirement Planning, and Risk Management, and the introductory finance course. The position will include participation in distance education. The candidate is expected to publish peer-reviewed articles in related fields, teach courses, and participate in service.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
The applicant must have a Ph.D. in Finance, Insurance, or Risk Management with evidence of a research emphasis in Insurance and Risk Management. Candidates must have degree in hand prior to the date of hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The applicant must build and maintain a close working relationship with the insurance industry in the State of New Mexico. The applicant will serve as an academic and career advisor/mentor for students pursuing a degree or minor in Risk Management and Insurance, including identifying and supervising internship opportunities.
