Job Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises the Program Specialists of the five cultural community engagement programs—Asian Pacific Islander Program, Black Program, American Indian Program, Latin American Program, and LGBT+ Program—ensuring effective leadership, coordination, and alignment with the office’s mission. Also responsible for supervising Program Specialists, student employees, and graduate assistants, including hiring student staff to support program units in consultation with leadership. Oversees budgetary management for all office programs, including allocation based on trends and collaborating with the Assistant Vice President to develop funding through sponsorships, initiatives, foundation support, and external sources. Leads and supports programming efforts by collaborating with system partners on large-scale campus and systemwide events, as well as with branch campuses on outreach and recruitment initiatives. Provides student support and advocacy by responding to crisis situations, making appropriate referrals, offering one-on-one interventions, and identifying student needs across all units while partnering with campus resources to implement solutions. Serves as the primary liaison with external constituencies, building community partnerships, and leading campus and community outreach efforts, including the development and facilitation of trainings in collaboration with office staff and system partners. Oversees communication and promotional efforts by guiding units in social media strategy, ensuring website content is current in collaboration with web designer, and managing press and outreach initiatives. Directs assessment and evaluation processes by overseeing data collection and analysis across all units, guiding staff in identifying success metrics, and collaborating with the Assistant Vice President to establish long-term programmatic goals aligned with access and the land-grant mission.

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
Associate's Degree + 10 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 8 years of relevant experience. Master's degree or higher preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
