Classification Summary:
Under general supervision performs non-routine, complex work. Duties are those associated with a systems administrator or systems analyst with the addition of a leadership role. Plans, conducts, and may supervise assignments. Reviews progress and evaluates results. Participates in budget planning, implementation, and monitoring for purchase and maintenance of hardware and software. Designs and implements integrated hardware and software computer and information systems to meet organizational requirements. Makes recommendations to change procedures. May supervise and train subordinates.
Classification Standard Duties:
Maintains current knowledge of relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems. Participates in budget planning, implementation, and monitoring for purchase and maintenance of hardware and software. Designs and implements integrated hardware and software computer and information systems to meet organizational requirements. Analyzes management needs regarding use of integrated data processing equipment or operations and processes. Plans, coordinates, and schedules investigations, feasibility studies and surveys, including economic evaluation of proposed and existing automatic data processing and machine applications. May supervise and train subordinates. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures. Knowledge of computer security procedures and protocol. Knowledge of a broad range of relevant multi-user computer systems, applications, and/or equipment.; SKILLS:Skill in records maintenance, budget preparation and fiscal management. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Skills in team leadership and effective communication.; ABILITIES:Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members as well as higher-level staff and administrators. Ability to use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities with organizational goals in mind.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees all aspects of cybersecurity operations, including threat detection, incident response, and risk mitigation for the SEN. This includes managing a team of analysts and implementing tools and procedures to monitor, assess, and defend the network from cyber threats. The SOC Supervisor ensures the security and integrity of broadband services, protecting sensitive data while supporting the educational mission of K-12 schools across New Mexico.
Collaborates closely with the SEN NOC Supervisor to coordinate efforts between network operations and security. This includes joint development of processes, communication protocols, and strategies to maintain seamless service delivery while upholding cybersecurity standards. The role also involves frequent coordination with the PSL ISOC Department Manager to align with broader institutional security policies and frameworks, ensuring compliance with FERPA and other applicable regulations.
Responsible for the development and enforcement of cybersecurity policies and procedures, conducting regular risk assessments, and delivering actionable insights to enhance the network’s security posture. The role requires proactive identification of vulnerabilities, mitigation of potential threats, and continuous improvement of the SOC’s capabilities. In addition to technical and operational duties, the Supervisor plays a key role in fostering collaboration and trust among stakeholders, including educational institutions, state agencies, and PSL leadership.

The ability to obtain a government secret clearance within one year is required. Must maintain secret clearance throughout employment.
