Summary:  The New Mexico State University Department of Marketing is seeking candidates for the Department Head of Marketing position at Associate or Full Professor level beginning August 2025.

Classification Summary:
The New Mexico State University Department of Marketing is seeking candidates for the Department Head of Marketing position at Associate or Full Professor level beginning August 2025. This position will assist in the development, administration, and promotion of the department and its programs.

Classification Standard Duties:
Assist the Dean with the administration and evaluation of the programs. Promote academic achievement and student satisfaction consistent with established education objectives, quality standards and fiscal responsibility. Supervise and evaluate assigned personnel. Responsible for assisting in the development and/or administration of budgets in areas of supervision. Seeks and pursues/motivates others to pursue potential sources of funding for the college. Serve as liaison between the college and the university community, community agencies, businesses and other groups, advisory committees, state and national groups. Ensure compliance with regulatory, corporate and Department of Education regulations. Seek/maintain degree program approval from licensing agencies, regional and national accreditation councils. Reports directly to the Dean.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education: Earned terminal degree in a directly related discipline. Candidate must currently be a tenured Associate Professor or Professor; Required Experience: None; Equivalency: None; Required Certification/License: None.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Understanding of the University's mission, vision and goals.; SKILLS: Short- and long-term planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; interpersonal and organizational communication, both oral and written.; ABILITIES: Develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provide leadership in the overall operation and development of the Department of Marketing and assist in the implementation of the College’s and the University’s strategic goals including
NMSU LEADS 2025.
Responsibilities include managing department governance activities; addressing the needs and concerns of the department and college; managing curriculum and instruction; contributing to the department’s teaching, scholarship, and service responsibilities,supervising activities concerning faculty affairs and students; monitoring and managing the department budget and seeking additional funding; supervising office staff and resources; determining course offerings during a semester and the faculty member assigned to teach the course; managing internal and external communications; encouraging professional development of faculty and staff; and supervising the development and implementation of graduate programs. It is expected that the department head will be present on campus during normal working hours of the university, Las Cruces campus.

Environment: Work is normally performed indoors.

Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
