Summary: Are you a strategic marketing and communications professional with a proven track record of driving impactful campaigns? NMSU is seeking a dynamic and innovative Associate Vice President of University Communications and Marketing Services to join our team in Las Cruces. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead our comprehensive marketing and communication strategies, ensuring a cohesive and compelling brand narrative across all channels. You will lead a talented team of professionals, fostering an environment of creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
Classification Summary:
Directs and coordinates the multiple core functions of the University's centralized Marketing and Communication functions. Provides strategic and operational direction to assigned organizational components, and provides leadership to the institution in strategic marketing, communication, public relations, media and creative promotions. Collaboratively directs the Marketing and Communication organization structure with authority and oversight of all managerial, professional, paraprofessional, and support staff.
Classification Standard Duties:
Directs and coordinates university marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities; both external and internal. Oversees development and implementation of support materials and services in the area of marketing, communications and public relations. Coordinates communication strategies to enhance positive media exposure including earned, owned and paid media opportunities. Represents and promotes the University, increasing visibility and supporting the institution's mission, vision, and goals. Leads the development and implementation of the University's brand vision, strategy, and public relations campaigns to attract the best students, motivate alumni and donors, and recruit high quality faculty and staff. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge and understanding of marketing and communication principles, practices, and standards, as applied to public institutions. Knowledge of multi-media applications especially millennial communication options as they relate to students. Knowledge of computerized systems used in marketing and communications. Knowledge of organization structure, staffing patterns, and job design. Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools. Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques.; SKILLS:Skilled at examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, creating and managing fiscal budgets and the strategic implementation of outcomes. Skilled at critical thinking, presenting analysis, strategic planning that can be delivered to a broad constituency.; ABILITIES:Ability to be a dynamic leader for a multi-unit team. Job Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the President's Chief of Staff, this role requires a highly motivated individual able to utilize top social media trends, targeting and attracting potential students. Collaboratively lead NMSU in a cultural shift into today's broad social media and digital marketing channels. Continue to develop and strengthen NMSU's unique and compelling voice to build awareness, relevance, reputation and esteem among target audiences. Advise marketing and communications teams, to develop a best-in-class social and traditional media presence. Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to advance the university's brand identity; broaden awareness of its programs and priorities; and increase the visibility across target audiences. Coordinate with other departments to guide a unified approach to marketing and communication that meets the university's market demands. Must also guide and provide direction for University Broadcasting operations.
