Job Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in special education (face-to-face and online modalities), including coursework in bilingual/multilingual and multicultural special education with an emphasis in serving culturally and linguistically diverse learners in the region; serve as faculty advisor; develop a strong research agenda that is consistent with the mission of the School of TPAL, College of HEST, and the university; pursue external funding; demonstrate evidence of successful scholarship and creative activity; and exhibit a commitment to service to the School of TPAL, College of HEST, and University. In person presence at the Las Cruces Main Campus is required.

Required Qualifications
•Earned doctorate in special education or disability studies from an accredited institution, or ABD considered, but the doctorate must be awarded by start date (August 2027).
•Evidence of teaching and/or research in three or more of the following:
1. bilingual/multilingual and multicultural special education,
2. literacy/biliteracy/reading for students with disabilities,
3. mathematics instruction for students with disabilities,
4. culturally sustaining and social justice pedagogies
5. special education in rural, border, and/or Tribal communities, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities and contexts.
•Evidence of excellence in teaching for a minimum of three years in special education settings in grades 4-12 (Upper Elementary/Secondary).
•Experience with diverse school-university-community partnerships
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bilingual/multilingual proficiency, with particular interest in Spanish-English bilingualism and additional consideration of Indigenous languages and/or American Sign Language.
•Demonstrated record of, or ability to establish, scholarly productivity in special education and secure external support and grant funding related to the specialty area.
•Demonstrated experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations as well as rural and tribal communities.
