Classification Summary:
Responsible for the planning, organizing, and directing of routine maintenance operations. Trains and supervises the custodial staff to maintain an orderly, safe, and efficient cleaning operation. Requires knowledge in the care and use of power equipment.
Classification Standard Duties:
Supervises two or more full-time employees; Makes decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees, or makes related recommendations; Schedules work to meet normal requirement without interfering with residents or occupants of office space; Directs workers performing cleaning tasks; Develops and participates in a training program which familiarizes custodial staff with particular problems involved in custodial services including improved techniques; Inspects buildings, rooms, storage space, hallways, fixtures and custodial equipment to observe the results of work; Requisitions appropriate materials and supplies; Prepares and submits appropriate reports and memoranda regarding custodial policies and procedures; Recommends budget, materials and equipment for the area.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education:High School diploma or GED certificate.; Required Experience:Five (5) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency:Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.; Required Certification/License:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of cleaning standards and techniques; Knowledge of equipment and material usage and maintenance.; SKILLS:Skill in supervising the work activities of assigned staff.; ABILITIES:Ability to communicate effectively.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Supervision of Custodial workers, supervision of supply purchase and distribution, supervision of Custodial equipment use and repair. Ensure the smooth operation of daily campus cleaning and disinfecting routines. Responsible for supply inventory. Responsible for approving leave request, and time sheets.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic computer knowledge.

Standard Work Schedule: Shift: Other Shift
If Not a Standard Work Schedule: Work Shift will be 5 am to 2 pm M-F; may be required to work weekends
Environment: Work is normally performed indoors.
Physical Effort: Moderate physical activity.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
