Summary: Lead and mentor a team of Plumbers! Oversee projects, ensure quality and timeliness, and assist with repairs and installations. Requires NM Journeyman Plumbing and Gas Fitter licenses, plus 8 years of experience.
Classification Summary:
Leads the work of Journey-level Plumbers and Trades Helpers and participates in the repair, maintenance, inspection and installation of systems and Journey-level crafts projects.
Classification Standard Duties:
Assigns and inspects the work of Plumbers and Trades Helpers; initiates corrective action to secure satisfactory standards and timely project completion. Plans and develops work schedules, equipment usage schedules and procedures for equipment maintenance. Determines material and labor estimates. Participates in maintenance, repair and installation duties in the trades.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education: High School diploma or GED certificate.; Required Experience: Eight (8) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency: Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.; Required Certification/License: NM Journeyman Plumbing License. NM Journeyman Gas Fitter License and Valid unrestricted driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of steam, water, natural gas, fire hydrant, fire sprinkler, and waste water distribution systems maintenance and repair. Knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials common to the trade. Knowledge of allapplicable codes, standards and regulations.; SKILLS: Skilled in the installation, maintenance, and repair of steam, water, natural gas, fire hydrant, and waste water distribution systems. Skill in estimating time and material requirements for work projects.; ABILITIES: Ability to effectively communicate.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Lead Plumber oversees and directs the work of Journey-level Plumbers and Trades Helpers, ensuring high standards and timely completion of projects. Responsibilities include planning work schedules, estimating labor and material requirements, and performing inspections to maintain quality. This role involves hands-on participation in the maintenance, repair, and installation of steam, water, gas, fire sprinkler, and wastewater systems. The Lead Plumber also develops procedures for equipment maintenance and addresses any issues or corrective actions needed.
