Job Duties and Responsibilities: Mechanical-Supervises the installation, repair, overhaul and maintenance of HVAC/refrigeration systems, which may include mechanical building systems and supervises the installation repair and maintenance of all systems and assignments common to the trade. Supervises two or more full-time employees, or their equivalent, on a regular basis. Makes decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees, or makes related recommendations that are given particular weight. Makes material and labor estimates. Prepares sketches of proposed work and assists in the design and specifications of planned jobs or contracts. Establishes, assigns and adjusts work methods and procedures to meet schedules using knowledge of capacities and capabilities of personnel and equipment. Initiates measures to improve methods, equipment performance and quality of work. Ensures budgeting guidelines are met; prioritizes expenditures to stay within budget; assists in the preparation of capital and operations budgets. Interprets policies to assigned personnel and enforces safety regulations and adherence to proper codes and standards. Recommends or initiates action involving promotions, transfers, disciplinary action and motivation of employees. Maintains records and files, including the approval of time cards and absences, and submits as required. Trains and instructs employees in new methods or procedures. Maintains responsibility for the correct stock levels of repair or replacement parts. Inspects work in process to insure its completion within allotted time limits and for acceptable quality standards. Coordinates with suppliers, contractors, engineers and others concerning equipment operations or maintenance.
Required Education and Experience:
Associate's Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 2 years of relevant experience. Equivalency: Completion of a registered apprenticeship program recognized by a state or federal authority
OR
Valid Journeyman-level certification in the applicable skilled trade (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Plumber);
OR
High School Diploma or GED and eight (8) years of progressively responsible, journey-level experience in the specific trade, including two (2) years in a supervisory, lead, or crew-chief capacity;
OR
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties of the position.

Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Physical Effort: Considerable physical activity. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
Lifting Requirements: Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
