Standard Work Schedule: Shift: Other Shift
If Not a Standard Work Schedule: Work schedule is staggered to accommodate departmental need. Starting and ending work hours will be assigned as needed on an 40 hour work week schedule. Starting times M-F, range from 7-9am and end times range from 4-6pm. Occasional late evening
Job Duties and Responsibilities: Serve as primary chair-side assistant to the clinic dentist. Set up and maintain dental clinic and laboratory equipment. Maintain and organize dental radiography equipment and quality control systems, radiation certification records, and monitoring devices for personnel. Implement and maintain OSHA standards and training records for all personnel. Establish and maintain inventory control system for ordering, stocking, and restocking of clinic and lab supplies. Ensure quality control and maintain records for radiographs. Maintain housekeeping standards and related records. Catalog SDS and ensure accuracy of documentation. Provide chairside assisting support for clinical personnel and students. Maintain required certifications. Perform front desk/reception duties including patient check-in, scheduling, and record management. Assist with dental insurance filing, processing, and verification. Support additional dental program operations as needed. Perform other work-related and clinical assisting duties as required.
Required Education and Experience:
High School diploma + 3 years of relevant experience or an Associate's Degree + 1 year of relevant experience.
Equivalent Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years of experience in a dental clinical or educational setting. Experience with dental practice management software. Experience with dental insurance billing and claims processing. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Experience with inventory management and supply ordering. Knowledge of dental radiography quality assurance procedures.
Special Certification/Licensure:
Certificate in Dental Assisting from a Dental Assisting Program in the US. RHS certification through the New Mexico Board of Dental Health Care (NMBODHC). CPR Certification.
Environment: Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment.
Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
