Job Duties and Responsibilities: Socio-economic dimensions of forested watersheds management postdoctoral research opportunity at NMSU.

The department of Extension Economics at New Mexico State University invites applicants for a competitive two-year postdoctoral fellowship. The position offers an exciting opportunity for cutting-edge research on forested watershed. Under the supervision of Dr. Sawssan Boufous, the successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team and play a key role in advancing knowledge on non-market valuation and experimental approaches, with strong potential for high impact publications and policy relevance.
The postdoctoral fellow will lead research initiatives focused on the economics of forested watershed management. Responsibilities include designing and implementing surveys and experiments, as well as conducting hedonic price analyses to measure impact of climate change and adaptation strategies. This position provides opportunities for collaboration across disciplines, professional development, participation in publications and grant writing, conference presentations, and outreach activities
- Conduct advanced non-market valuation research related to forested watersheds management.
- Design and implement surveys and experiments to assess public preferences for adaptation and economic impacts.
- Conduct cost/benefit analyses for forested watersheds management techniques.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to project planning, data analysis, and dissemination of results.
- Prepare research findings for academic publications, policy briefs, and presentations at professional conferences and stakeholder meetings.
- Mentor graduate students.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
Required Education:Doctorate degree in related field.; Required Experience:No previous work experience required.; Equivalency:None; Required Certification/License:

Equivalent Qualifications: 

Preferred Qualifications: 
PhD in Economics, Applied Economics, Environmental Economics, or related field (Advanced ABDs with completion by the first day of employment will be considered).
2. Strong background in environmental and resource economics, with specific expertise in non-market valuation and the economics of ecosystem services.
3. Proficiency in econometric methods (particularly as applied to environmental data and non-market valuation techniques).
4. Experience with survey and hypothetical experiment design and implementation (particularly stated preference elicitation methods).
5. Proven track record of publication or high-quality research output.
6. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
7. Proficiency with written communication skills.
8. Ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
9. Strong skills in statistical and econometric software packages (E.g., Stata, R, or equivalent).
