Job Duties and Responsibilities: **This is a one-year appointment. May be extended contingent upon funding.
Plan and conduct controlled-environment, laboratory, and field research on plants and root systems; collect, interpret, and analyze data; prepare and present research findings; and coordinate research activities to support reporting requirements and successful completion of NMSU deliverables for federally funded projects.
- Design and conduct multiple research projects in support of organizational and programmatic goals.
- Collect, manage, and document research samples, data, and related information; coordinate research activities and team efforts to ensure timely and accurate data collection.
- Analyze and interpret research data; prepare summaries, reports, and other materials for review, presentation, and submission.
- Provide research support to the Project Director and collaborating investigators by assisting with planning, implementation, and execution of research activities.
Required Education and Experience:
Associate’s Degree + 2 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree.

Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
