Summary: The department of communication disorders in the College of Health, Education, and Social Transformation invites applications for two 9-month, college-track positions as assistant professor/clinical educator with anticipated start date of January, 2026. The successful candidate will join a collegial, supportive, and student-centered faculty and is expected to provide clinical supervision, teach, and provide service to the department, college, and the university. Regular on-campus presence and in-person job duties are required.
Classification Summary:

Classification Standard Duties:
Provide clinical supervision in-person in on-campus clinic and off-site as well as teach courses in person and online.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Clinical doctorate or M.A./M.S. in speech language pathology, communication sciences and disorders, or speech/hearing sciences.
ASHA certification (CCC-SLP), eligibility for New Mexico licensure in speech-language pathology, and documentation of meeting the ASHA supervision requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Be able to provide clinical supervision to graduate students in communication disorders in accordance with ASHA’s guidelines for clinical education in speech-language pathology.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The primary duties of the position include supervision of graduate students in our CAA-accredited graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology as well as other academic and service responsibilities consistent with the mission of the department, the college, and the university. Also includes teaching and/or developing course shells for four courses per semester.
The successful candidate will provide graduate clinical education in our on-campus Edgar R. Garrett Speech and Hearing Center as well as several community settings and will provide undergraduate and/or graduate instruction. All faculty in the department participate in shared faculty governance, strategic planning, curriculum review, student outcome assessment, and advisement.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience supervising SLP graduate students and/or clinical fellows.
2. Experience working with in a variety of clinical settings with clients across the lifespan.
3. Experience and/ or interest in teaching courses in a post-secondary (College/University) setting, such as introduction to communication disorders, pediatric language development and disorders, motor speech disorders, AAC, dysphagia.
Special Requirements of the Position
1. Clinical doctorate or M.A./M.S. in speech language pathology, communication sciences and disorders, or speech/hearing sciences.
2. ASHA certification (CCC-SLP), eligibility for New Mexico licensure in speech-language pathology, and documentation of meeting the ASHA supervision requirements.
3. Five or more years of clinical experience as SLP.
4. Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
