Job Duties and Responsibilities: Conducting fish surveys for Gila trout using backpack electrofishing, collecting biological data (lengths, weights, fin clips), and backpacking/hiking gear into remote areas in the Gila National Forest Wilderness. Additional duties will include assisting with field planning and gear organization, downloading data from environmental loggers, recording and entering data, and performing data quality assurance. Responsibilities will also involve driving field trucks, so candidates applying for the position must possess a valid driver's license.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Physical Effort: Considerable physical activity. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
