Classification Summary:
Under the direction of the Golf Professional, will supervise the pro shop personnel and assist and direct in the daily operations of the pro shop. Will oversee and/or collect fees, clean the pro shop and restrooms, run and clean carts, pick the golf range and any other like duties in efficiently running the pro shop operation in the Golf Professional's absence or other staff absence.
Classification Standard Duties:
Greets customers and collets green and rental fees; promotes tournaments, specials, fundraisers, etc. as it relates to the golf course; answers phones and gives directions, pricing and merchandise information; makes reservations for golf tee times; coordinates, oversees and directs operational, procedural, and customer service activities associated with the operation of a golf pro shop; operates a cash register, makes change, balances receipts and prepares bank statement; opens and secures shop which includes unarming and setting alarms; assists customers in the selection of merchandise; inspects pro shop and surrounding areas, using a golf cart, to ensure they are properly cleaned, maintained and presentable to the public; performs various housekeeping duties in other areas of golf course operations; which ultimately affects the overall presentation of the golf course; performs other related duties as required.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education:High School diploma or GED certificate.; Required Experience:Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency:Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.; Required Certification/License:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of all fees and golf course policies. Knowledge of the golf course operational procedures and techniques. Knowledge of public relations and recreational programs promoting golf. Knowledge of golf course security procedures. Knowledge of proper customer service techniques in presenting services to the paying public. Knowledge of scheduling tee times. Knowledge of the game of golf.; SKILLS:Skill in the operation of the listed tools.; ABILITIES:Ability to oversee the work of others. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, supervisors and subordinates. Ability to operate cash registers and conduct credit card transactions. Ability to make minor mathematical calculations. Ability to drive a golf cart.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Track all passholders, ensuring timely payments and notifying them about pass renewal dates.
- Plan and execute tournaments, including selling, meetings, and day-of execution.
- Train all new hires on policies and procedures.
- Serve as the Manager on Duty when the Head Pro is not on-site.
- Supervise the outside service staff.
- Oversee driving range setup and rotation.
- Coordinate demo days with vendors.
- Build and maintain the tee sheet each month in the POS system.
- Handle daily cash envelope verifications (CEV) and change orders.
- Open or close the pro shop as scheduled.
- Work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Order and manage office supplies.
